Non-return valves, also known as check valves, are a type of valve that allow flow in one direction only. A swimming pool non-return valve is an essential component in any pool plumbing system as it is designed to prevent water from flowing back into the pool when the pool pump is turned off. Swimming pool non-return valves should be installed between the pool pump and the filter, and ideally, should be positioned above the water level to prevent air from getting trapped in the valve.
Non-return valves are also installed between dosing systems and heating equipment to prevent back flow of chlorinated water into the heat exchanger/heat pump to prevent possible damage.
