Frequently Asked Questions

Purchasing An Endless Pool Aquatic Fitness System

Q: Why buy from All Swim?
A: All Swim is a second generation family business founded in 1972, we supply swimming pools, swimspas and hot tubs all over the UK. Our staff are fully trained and we are BISHTA (British & Irish Spa & Hot Tub Association) and WhatSpa? Approved. We pride ourselves on our customer service and after sales support and have won numerous awards for our showroom, website as well as our outstanding retail excellence.

Q: Why buy from a BISHTA Member?
A: Because we have proven skills in water hygiene management and can offer expert advice and service on our products. Because as BISHTA members we will answer your questions on what type of swimspa will suit your needs and budget.  We also have a sound knowledge of other key areas such as the correct water treatment, selection of chemicals, location, access, running costs, maintenance and guaranteed after-sales service and support. We also work to a Code of Ethics and you will be given honest, reliable advice. Additionally, you have the guarantee of purchasing products that conform to European Standards.

Q: How is the single-shell swim spa series different from the Original Endless Pool?
A: Our spas come as a single-shell acrylic vessel that is pre-plumbed, pre-wired and does not require assembly. The Original Endless Pool features a modular system that can fit through standard doorways for installation in existing spaces.

Q: Does the Endless Pool really work?
A: It really works! You really can swim or exercise in place against a current set at a speed you select, for as long as you like. No more trips to the local leisure centre. Imagine the convenience of being able to swim in the privacy, comfort and safety of your home anytime day or night. Because the current holds you in place, you never reach the end of your Endless Pool. This unique swim-in-place feature allows the Endless Pool to be much smaller than a regular pool, while providing all of the benefits of a full-size pool. The Endless Pool is so carefree it even maintains your favourite water temperature automatically!

Q: How fast is the current?
A: The Original Endless Pools current can go as slow or as fast as you want. At top speed, the equivalent swim would be a mile without turns in less than 20 minutes. We should emphasise that the swim spa is primarily a constant swimming machine, not a sprint machine. Because you never reach the end of an Endless Pool and you are swimming against a current, the swim tends to be "more concentrated" than in still water because you swim at a constant pace.

Q: Can I do aqua aerobics?
A: Yes, all Endless Pools models are excellent for aquatic exercise. We offer models with a range of depths to accommodate a diversity of sizes and uses. Our 1.5m deep swim spas can accommodate our optional Underwater Treadmill; that gives you both the standard water depth and the treadmill area, which is elevated by 1m.

Q: How does the Endless Pool compare to a lap pool?
A: Personal lap pools are usually one lane wide, about 1m to 1.3m deep and 15-25m long. The Endless Pool takes up much less space, is simpler to install (particularly indoors), easier to maintain and more economical to run than a traditional lap pool.

Q: Is it hard to swim in the Endless Pool?
A: It usually takes only a few seconds to learn how to swim "against the current." Most first-time swimmers are so thrilled by seeing how easy it is that they pop up and say with a big smile, "this thing really works!"

Q: How does the swim current operate?
A: The signature Endless Pools swim current is generated by a 40.6cm propeller inside a protective acrylic case that is driven by a hydraulic motor. The current is totally adjustable in speed from zero to a racer's pace. With the best swim current on the market, the Endless Pool current is much superior to currents generated by jets or paddle wheels. The Endless Pool propulsion unit can move a huge amount of water - up to 19,000 litres a minute - under low pressure from a large opening (53.3cm x 40.6cm) producing a river-like current.
Our Swim Cross Exercise System features our jetted swim current. Specially designed for these entry-level swim spas, the current features 5 jets, 5 speeds, and minimal turbulence. When used with our swim tether, you get gentle resistance for exercise that’s as effective as it is enjoyable.

Q: Can I get trapped in the current?
A: The current of every Endless Pool is confined to the center of the pool. If you want to get out of the current, all you have to do is take one step sideways out of the current into calm water. The pool has been tested by NSF and is VGB 2008 compliant to ensure that it is has been rigorously tested to prevent suction entrapment.

Q: Who are Endless Pools and are they reputable?
A:As a boy, Endless Pools founder James Murdock listened to his father’s stories of childhood swims against the currents of irrigation canals. After years of working to recreate his father’s swim-in-place experience, Murdock installed his first swimming machine on the pool deck at Columbia University in New York City. That milestone event in 1988 launched the brand that is synonymous with swimin-place technology. In 2015, Endless Pools was acquired by Watkins Wellness™, the world’s leading maker of hot tubs. Endless Pools Fitness Systems combines the best swim-in-place technology with the best in spa manufacturing for an all-in-one home wellness system, specifically designed with your well-being in mind. Watkins Wellness™. Delivery

Q: What type of delivery do you offer?
A: All Swim offer many different types of delivery, wherever you want your aquatic fitness system we will find a way of placing it there! We have never come across a delivery that we haven’t been able to do!

Flatbed Delivery Service
If you have a crane organised for the placing of the swimspa, then this option is probably the most suitable. The swimspa will be delivered on an open back vehicle. This allows the crane to access the unit from above, to get all of the necessary straps attached to allow lifting into place.

Hi-Ab Delivery Service
If you need the unit lifted over a standard wall, fence or hedge this service will be the best option for you. The distance the hi-ab can reach is up to 8m away from the vehicle. The swimspa will be delivered on an open back vehicle with the appropriate lifting gear in order to place your new swimspa in to the desired location.

"All in one" Truck and Crane Delivery Service
If you don’t want the chaos of having two vehicles for a crane delivery All Swim can solve that for you and we can deliver and crane install on the same vehicle, furthermore because of its size it can get access where most cranes can’t. This option is available at a fraction of the cost of a crane hire and separate delivery vehicle. This option is best suited where there is little or no access to the garden.

Installation

Q: I'm not sure I have access to get a swimspa into my garden, what advice can you give me?
A: The access you require will depend on what model you choose. All Swim offer a free no obligation site survey (anywhere in the UK) so we can check the access for you and we will give you our professional advice, call 02920 705059 to make your no obligation appointment.

Q: How easy is it to install an Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa?
All Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spas come pre-plumbed, pre-wired and ready to use. All you need to do is fill it with water and hook up the electricity.

Q: Where can I install an Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa?
A: An Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa can be installed indoors or outside. Outdoor spaces are particularly suitable: the model is placed in position, and you can be swimming that day. Indoor installations in existing spaces are possible if you have a large opening such as a garage door or a large patio door. Alternatively, these models can be installed in virtually any room with new construction. Our installation options include fully above ground, partially in-ground, or fully in-ground.

Note : Site selection and preparation are your responsibility. Please read instructions carefully.  A free no obligation site visit is available if required for further help and advice.

Please check the location you choose can support the weight of your swimspa filled with water.

If installed in the ground ensure the pit is self draining, all equipment is located within the cabinet and ingress of water will cause damage.

Ensure the pit is large enough to gain access to the panels around the unit.

Q: What sort of base is required?
A: The base needs to be a solid foundation, we would recommend a concrete base, a minimum of 10cm thick.

Q: Is my Swimspa designed for indoor or outdoor use?
A: Both! They are designed for both indoor and outdoor use. You decide!

Q: What about humidity for indoor installations?
A: Humidity is always something to consider when installing indoors, but because the Endless Pool is small in size, it is easy to control humidity by keeping the pool covered when not in use. Our Single-Shell swim spa series offers two cover options: the Watkins bi-fold cover/lifter and, for added security, the VacuSeal™ System. Both security covers can control 100% of the humidity when in place and are designed for easy of use by one person.

All Swim are also able to offer advice on air heating and dehumidification and can supply air handling equipment as well.

Q: What power supply will my swimspa need?
A: Depending on the model chosen the unit will require either a 24, 32 or 60 amp supply, it needs to be permanently connected to a dedicated electrical supply (hard wired), Electrics need to be a minimum 2 metres from the water and the electric installation must be carried out by a P Certified Electrician.

Q: How quickly can I use my Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa once it has been installed?
A: Usually within 8 – 10 hours after installation. This is the length of time approximately the tub takes to heat up from cold water.

Q: Do I need to have my Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa turned on all the time or just when I want to use it?
A: It needs to be turned on all the time as this will make it more efficient compared to heating it when you want to use it.

Q: Do I need to turn my Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa off in the winter?
A: No you don't! They are built to withstand all different temperatures for exercising all year round.

Maintenance

Q: Will my Endless Pool Single-Shell swim spa need a designated water supply and how often will I need to change the water?
A: No, The Endless Pool is filled with a garden hose. The water is changed every two years or so, depending upon use.

Q: Do I need to use chemicals?
A: All spas require some form of chemicals for balancing the pH and as a sanitiser. Some hot tubs are supplied with ozine whilst the Caldera range all come as standard with the inline Frog dosing system reducing the amount of time involved in looking after your tub.

Q: Is it difficult to keep the pool clean?
A: Our dual water purification system combines bacteria-killing UVC lighting with eco-friendly Ozone to tackle viral and fungal contaminants. With its 24/7 circulation and hourly water turnover, you get ease of maintenance in a fresh smelling, low-chlorine system. The Endless Pool uses an ultraviolet water purifier to help sanitise the pool water. This system uses ultraviolet light to destroy bacteria, viruses and algae. You must still use a small amount of chlorine to oxidise the contaminants. In most installations, a small amount of chlorine is sufficient. This amount of chlorine is substantially less than the amount needed in a typical chlorinated pool.

Q: How is the water in my hot tub filtered?
A: All our hot tubs are fitted with a highly efficient cartridge filtration system filtering out the very finest particles, helping to keep your hot tub water sparkling.

Q: How often should I change the filters?
A: We recommend that the filters are taken out and cleaned every 2 weeks depending on usage. The filters are best cleaned using our cartridge cleaner and left to soak overnight and then simply rinsed with a garden hose and thoroughly dried before re-fitting. We recommend the filters are replaced by new ones every 6 months.

Q: Are the spas supplied with a safety cover?
A: All our hot tubs are supplied with a rigid insulation cover as standard. The cover fits snugly over the top of the spa is centrally hinged for convenience. The cover has a lock for safety.

Q: Can I lock my spa?
A: All out hot tubs allow you to lock the control panel to prevent its use in your absence but you can also lock the hot tub cover securing it over the top of the hot tub for added safety and to prevent it being blown away.

Q: Once I have purchased my hot tub, does All Swim offer after sales care including maintenance and the supply of chemicals and accessories?
A: Absolutely! All Swim began trading in 1972, specialising in the supply of chemicals and accessories for pools and spas. We can supply free of charge, a mail order guide and water treatment guide and can offer help with water treatment over the phone or we can analyse your water sample free of charge in our showroom.
